If you’ve answered yes to most of these questions, your skin is likely dehydrated. Since dehydration is not a skin type, but a condition, any skin type can suffer from dehydration. Your skin type may be oily, but may lack water content, resulting in skin that is trying to overproduce oil to compensate for the lack of moisture. It is also found among those with acne-prone skin where the use of harsh products strip the skin of moisture, leaving patches of sensitive, rough and blotchy skin.

What Causes Skin Dehydration?

While there are many factors that may contribute to dehydrated skin, some of the common culprits include:

~ Environmental conditions such as cold weather, use of heaters, the wind and dry climates
~ Use of harsh facial cleansers or cleansing scrubs
~ Applying products with high amounts of alcohol or fragrances
~ Insufficient daily intake of water
~ Frequent exposure to the outdoors without applying sunscreen or wearing SPF products
